Kit Kat

Kit Kat is very popular in Japan. The name of the chocolate bar is similar to the phrase "Kitto Katsu," which means " you will surely win" or "good luck". Kit Kats are usually given to students before exams as a good luck charm.

Nestlé has released over 300 flavors in Japan.  With many limited edition or regional flavors, they have also become collectors items.

It is worth noting that Hersheys owns the rights to distribute Kit Kat in the United States and have not released the same flavors or variety.  If you've been following me on Facebook you know I've been running my own Kit Kat tasting for the last 20 years. I will be incorporating my Kit Kat tasting reviews to this blog. Are you wondering where to find the Japanese flavors? Try your local Hmart grocery store, there is always a decent variety of flavors.

More on these flavors later.
