I stumbled upon Ajin after watching Netflix's Jinn series. Jinn or Djinn are Arabic terms for a genie like supernatural being that can also take human form. I assumed Ajin was also about genies. I was wrong, this series centers around the undead or immortal. Ajin could also be considered a zombie, someone that returns to life after dying. Although not what I was expecting, the show is well written and tackles some dark topics.
The series centers around Nagai Kei, who is hit by a truck and dies, only to return to life. Nagai immediately goes on the run. The government's initial response is to kill all Ajin. Nagai is only the third Ajin to be exposed to the public. Nagai is aided by his classmate who realizes, he isn't a bad person and did nothing wrong to deserve this treatment.
Later we learn Ajin have control over black ghosts. These are insanely strong combative ghosts. Can Nagai continue to obstinate from hurting humans or is it necessary to protect himself?
